Our original Hokkaido Holiday Home, situated in the picturesque suburb of Boyodai (bo-yo-dye) on the outskirts of the small port city of Otaru (Otaru-shi) and overlooking the Asari ski field and breathtaking mountain vista, where you can watch the snow falling and leaves change colour from your very private back patio. This holiday home has undergone a complete renovation in 2023 including extensive landscaping, furnishings and living areas, combining modern Japandi-style with the authentic essence of real Japan.
This 3 separate bedroom home sleeps up to 6 people in absolute comfort, and is equipped with all the amenities you could need. It boasts centralised heating and cooling AC to keep you comfortable year-round, a large, modern and galley-style kitchen with premium western-style appliances, a separate laundry room with built-in automatic clothes washer and dryer, a spacious dining area, and 3 private bedrooms for a restful night’s sleep. Additionally, there’s a separate family room with full streaming services available, two separate modern toilets, a separate modern bathrooms and dressing area, and a secure, dry and heated storage area for your snow or hiking gear, with fitted board/ski racks. In September 2025, we added a very high-end shower room, heated floor and ensuite for the master bedroom, plus an all new and high-end master bathroom with heated floor, as well as a sealed garage floor, and an all new entry area with modern coat and shoe/boot storage.
Within walking distance, you’ll find a 24/7 supermarket, 2 x convenience (combini) stores, pharmacies, restaurants, a petrol/gas full-service station, natural public and private onsen (hot springs), sauna resort with 6 sauna rooms, and even nearby snowfields for outdoor enthusiasts. For those seeking winter adventures, the home is just an 12-minute drive or private tourist taxi ride away from the world famous Sapporo Kokusai ski field and Otaru Tenguyama ski fields and gondola. It’s also conveniently located 12-minutes drive from the 100 year-old Otaru canal and its many tourist attractions, 31-minutes drive from the legendary Kiroro ski resort and Sapporo Teine ski fields, and a comfortable 60-minute drive to Niseko, and only 35-minutes drive to Hokkaido’s capital city, Sapporo and its insane food, the world-famous ramen district and international outlet shopping.
Late News: In September 2026, we will be adding a private onsen, complete with customised Japanese cedar sauna room, wash area and cold plunge bath – allowing you to onsen year round with your family and friends, and in the comfort and privacy of our home.

- From New Chitose Airport, walk about 7-mins to the New Chitose Airport Station

- take taxi to the 2-chome-24-24 Boyodai, Otaru
- collect your pre-booked Hokkaido Hobby Home rental car
From New Chitose (Sapporo) Airport – by CAR
- Get on Hokkaido Jukan Expressway/Do-o Expressway in Heiwa from Route 130 and Route 1091
- Follow Hokkaido Jukan Expressway/Do-o Expressway and Sapporo-Otaru Expressway to Asari Onsendori/ Route 1 in Otaru City, Shinko. Take exit Asari IC from Sapporo-Otaru Expressway
- Follow Route 1 for 2.3km to your destination in 2-chome-24-24 Boyodai, Otaru

- Collect your pre-booked Hokkaido Hobby Home reantal car from the agreed meeting place at New Chitose Airport.
House rules policy
- You must download a copy of the Hokkaido Holiday Home House Rules Policy.
- Non-negotiable house rules:
- Be polite to our community/ neighbourhood.
- Do not park on the street, at any time and please use the garage and extra parking area.
- No parties, loud music or large/ loud gatherings.
- No shoes allowed inside, please use the supplied house, including separate toilet slippers.
- No smoking allowed inside the property.
- No pets allowed (at any time).
- No clothes are allowed to be worn in the sauna or the cold plunge bath – this supports the Japanese cultural heritage laws and good hygiene.
- All damages will be automatically billed to the supplied credit card.
